Standard Check Calculator

Confirm that two independently weighed standard preparations agree before you use them, corrected for their weights and dilutions.

  • 98.0–102.0% default
  • HPLC and UV-Vis
  • Weight-corrected
  • No sign-up
How to use

Four steps, or fewer

  1. Enter the weight and dilution volume of both standard preparations.
  2. Paste the replicate responses of standard 1 and the responses of standard 2.
  3. Read the standard check result and the %RSD of standard 1.

Theory & criteria

How the standard check works

Two standard solutions are prepared from separate weighings. Each mean response is divided by its concentration to give a response factor; the ratio of the two factors shows whether the preparations agree.

RF = mean response × V / W
Standard check (%) = RF₂ / RF₁ × 100

Both standards are assumed to come from the same reference standard lot, so purity cancels out. A common acceptance range is 98.0–102.0%, together with ≤ 2.0% RSD for the replicate injections of standard 1. Use the limits in your SOP.
