Dilution Factor Calculator
Build the dilution scheme of your standard and sample step by step and get total dilution volumes, final concentrations and the assay factor.
- Unlimited dilution steps
- Purity-corrected
- Assay factor
- No sign-up
Four steps, or fewer
- Enter the standard weight, purity and the volume you dissolve it in.
- Add one row per dilution step, e.g. 5 mL diluted to 50 mL.
- Do the same for the sample. The results show both final concentrations and the assay factor.

How dilution factors combine
The total dilution volume is the initial volume multiplied by every subsequent dilution (final volume divided by aliquot). Dividing the weighed amount by it gives the final concentration.
C = W × P / DF
Assay factor = (W_std × P × DF_spl) / (W_spl × DF_std)
Content (% w/w) = (A_spl / A_std) × assay factor × 100
The total dilution volumes are what the Assay, Dissolution and other calculators ask for as “dilution volume”.
