Accuracy (Recovery) Calculator

Calculate % recovery for every spiked preparation, the mean and %RSD per level and the overall recovery.

  • ICH Q2(R2)
  • Peak area or amount found
  • Per-level statistics
  • No sign-up
How to use

Four steps, or fewer

  1. Choose whether you enter peak areas or amounts found.
  2. For peak areas, enter the standard concentration and responses.
  3. Paste each preparation: level, amount added and area (or found).

Theory & criteria

How recovery is calculated

Found = (A / Ā_std) × C_std  (peak area mode)
Recovery (%) = found / added × 100

ICH Q2(R2) recommends at least nine determinations over at least three levels covering the range, for example three preparations at each of 80, 100 and 120%. Typical drug product assay criteria are a mean recovery of 98.0–102.0% at each level with a %RSD of ≤ 2.0%. Impurity methods use wider ranges.
